Defense Attorney Ilan Funke-Bilu is Up+Adam
In our LoFi Headlines we update you on that mysterious case of the couple that was hit by a car in San Luis Obispo, and the 24 year old who was charged with vehicular manslaughter. This case was odd from the beginning. Did he know he hit them? Is it possible to fatally hit two people and their dog and NOT know? To make it more odd, when the cops showed up, they didn't know either. The couple wasn’t found until two days later, even after their dog was. Ilan Funke-Bilu is defending this man, and he is on the show today to answer all the questions we have had for a while. The story popped up today because Palacios just pleaded guilty and is facing as little as probation, and as much as over seven years in prison. What should happen? Local Winery Helps Cal Poly Students 'Learn By Doing' w/ Collaboration
We got Josh Klapper, the owner, and winemaker of Timbre Winery who's celebrating their grand opening of its SLO location at 770 Capitolio Sunday March 3 from 2-4pm. Josh chats about he and his wife Chiasa’s collaboration with a marketing class at Cal Poly to help launch the celebration. The partnership with this Cal Poly's marketing class underscores Timbre Winery's commitment to community engagement and education, trusting the students to apply their skills in real-world scenarios. Don’t miss the grand opening event, set for Sunday, March 3rd from 2-4 PM, as it promises to be a celebration of not just Timbre Winery's expansion but also of the vibrant local culture and the spirit of collaboration that defines San Luis Obispo.

60's Fashion Model, Author, and Fascinating Story Teller Jenny Boyd is Up+Adam
In her upcoming book, "Icons of Rock-In Their Own Words," Jenny Boyd spills the beans on some of the juiciest conversations she's had with music legends.
Jenny's journey from strutting the catwalks of London to jamming with rockstars isn't your typical tale.Raised in Kenya, she discovered her love of writing at an early age as a way of expressing her innermost feelings. She, along with her sister Pattie, were among London's top fashion models in the pivotal 1960's and witnessed the evolving British music scene first hand.
As Beatle George Harrison's sister-in-law, Jenny accompanied The Beatles on their well-documented trip to India to study meditation, worked in The Beatles' London shop Apple, helped run a clothing boutique in San Francisco's North Beach during the momentous "Summer of Love" and was the inspiration for Donovan's famous song, Jennifer Juniper. She became part of the chaotic 1970's traveling circus that was Fleetwood Mac while married to the band's drummer Mick Fleetwood (twice).
So, buckle up and get ready to rock as Boyd lets us in on the secrets behind the hits.

Shannon Polson, KeyNote Speaker and One of 1st Women to Fly Apache Attack Helicopter
TedX is coming to San Luis Obispo on April 14, 2024. The KeyNote Speaker is Shannon Huffman Polson and she is Adam’s guest today. Shannon is not only the author of The Grit Factor: Courage, Resilience, and Leadership in the Most Male-Dominated Organization in the World, but also the memoir North of Hope.
As the founder of The Grit Institute, Shannon is dedicated to cultivating whole leader development, guiding individuals to reach their fullest potential.
Drawing from her groundbreaking experience as one of the first women to pilot the Apache attack helicopter in the U.S. Army, Shannon brings a unique perspective to the table. Her journey has taken her across three continents, leading line units and facing challenges head-on.
After a decade of distinguished service in the armed forces, Shannon pursued her MBA at the Tuck School at Dartmouth, followed by her MFA. She then transitioned seamlessly into the corporate world, where she led exceptional teams in the medical device industry and at Microsoft.

'Ambassador of Americana' Charles Phoenix on SLOCAL's Contribution to U.S. Roadside Americana
Charles Phoenix, aka ‘The Ambassador of Americana’, ‘The King of Kitsch’, ‘The Knight of Nostalgia’ is an American pop culture humorist, historian, author and chef whose work explores 1950s and 1960s kitsch and Americana.
Phoenix is widely known for his ‘Retro slide shows' featuring a collection of vintage film slides capturing mid-century American life and culture -- set to Phoenix's commentary. He's known also for his "test kitchen" creations of exaggerated novelty foods and desserts, including the Cherpumple, a three-layer cake/pie hybrid. Phoenix has appearances as a recurring judge on the Food Network series Cake Wars and served as a frequent guest commentator on NPR and KCET.

The Christmas season is a time for giving, love, hope, and miracles. For us, it's an opportunity to redefine the meaning of "breaking and entering." Now in its 10th year, the Breaking & Entering Christmas tradition spearheaded by a dedicated team that goes beyond its unconventional name. It's about bringing joy to families in genuine need, transforming their homes into winter wonderlands, and creating lasting memories that will warm their hearts in a way they will never want to forget.
Transforming Homes with Holiday Cheer:
In the heart of this initiative, we orchestrate a magical transformation of a deserving family's home. Waiting until the family is briefly away, volunteers set the stage. Lights are strung, trees are adorned, and presents are wrapped with care. The result? A festive surprise awaiting the family upon their return—a Christmas they'll never forget. It's a beautiful reminder of the power of community, compassion, and the simple act of giving time to make someone else's holiday extraordinary while allowing them to remain anonymous.
Community Involvement and Future Plans:
Central to the success of Breaking & Entering Christmas is the involvement of the community. We seek nominations for the recipient family, maintaining their anonymity to ensure an intimate and personal celebration. As the 10th edition wraps up, we are grateful for the support received and look ahead to the 11th Breaking & Entering Christmas. Plans for the future include once again rallying community support to continue this heartwarming tradition. As we reflect on the joy shared and the holiday spirit kindled, Adam Montiel's Breaking & Entering Christmas stands as a testament to the magic that happens when a community comes together to make a difference during the most wonderful time of the year.

Monday 12/11 Neil Young Comes to A-Town Record Store | China Slippers Fiasco
Neil Young came to Traffic Records, an Atascadero record shop for a limited album signing, we'll talk to a gal who got a chance to meet him. We got Breaking and Entering Update. We talk to a woman who mistakingly received thousands of slippers from China at her door. We thank a local radio host for their help with B&E.
